window-15
Start with an old window with Plexiglas instead of glass, no window gasket, and a broken crank, so the window flaps in the wind when its towed.
window-5
Broken window regulator on the left, new regulator on the right.Note lever does not close all the way, the gear is stripped.  The regulator onthe right closes completely, and then some.  Pile of screws on the rightcame with new regulator, however none fit the closing channel.
window-4
New Regulator was purchased from a local RV Dealer for about $20.Part # 794CK   I found it for sale on the web here.
window-8
Regulator installed in Window.  Screw size is 8x1/2".  The left screw was too longand hit the regulator arm and had to be cut down, 8x3/8" would have been a better choice, but the local hardware store did not stock that size.
window-7
To replace window glass, nuts had to be removed, and then strips of aluminumneeded to be removed.  Nuts were made of very thin sheet metal, and whereeasy to remove, but some were crushed in the process.  Nut size is 8-32, and I was only able to get solid stainless steel replacement nuts.Hopefully they will come off again when I need to replace glass again.
window-6
Replacement gasket ordered from Vintage RV Enterprises (www.vintagerv.com).Part number: "Window Gasket 1952-1955" for 75¢ per foot.Old gasket is on the left, new on the right.
window-1
Screws which hold the middle (window regulator track) part together had to be replaced.  The screw size is 6x1/2".
window-2
Glass replaced and gasket installed.
window-3
Outside of Window after replacing gasket and glass and polishing with size 000 steel wool and rubbing compound.
window-14
Had to fabricate the piece which fits in the window track.  I used a nylon screw andnut.  The nut had to be filed down so it was square and it fit into the window track.
window-12
The screw is in the middle with nuts on either end (top and bottom).
window-11
Put the new screen back the way the old screen came off, but it did not seem to fit very well. I think there is room in this groove to place the rubber spline type screen caulking strip.  I'll have to make a trip to the hardware store to get some and see if it works.
window-9
Screen and crank all installed and working!
window-10
The window is sealed to the side of the Scotty with Putty Tape (order it herehttp://store.yahoo.com/amhs/puttytape.html).  The window is held in with Stainless Steel Screws 8x5/8" part # 0171889 from www.fastenal.com New Glass, New Gasket, New Putty Tape, New Crank, New Screen and New Screws! The next one should go a lot easier!
